How Can We Help You?
The treatment team at the Casey Eye Institute works to provide your child with the best medical care available. When a child is ill or disabled, many problems confront the family. Worried parents often need support and encouragement, information and guidance. The team here at the Casey Eye Institute provides social support as well as medical care. We want the best possible outcome for you, your child and your family. That's why our treatment team includes a social worker.

Julie Wood, LCSW, is the Clinical Social Worker for the Elks Children's Eye Clinic. She is available to meet with you in person while you are at the Casey Eye Institute, or you can speak to her by phone.

She can provide:
  • Information regarding your child's eye condition
  • Referral to organizations of parents of children with similar conditions
  • Information about your child's rights to education and services
  • Referral to advocacy groups to help you defend your child's rights
  • Information about Social Security or SSI and help with financial concerns
  • Information about transportation to medical care
  • Referral for respite care
  • Support groups
  • Individual or family counseling
  • Referral to education programs to help your child learn needed skills
  • Information regarding rearing a disabled child
  • Someone to talk with about your fears or concerns
