I'm already taking thyroid medication. Will this help my eye disease?
Graves disease affects the thyroid gland (located in the neck) and the tissues around the eye separately. Treating one area will not necessarily affect the others.
Does thyroid eye disease always affect both eyes equally?
Not necessarily. If your symptoms include bulging eyes, one eye may bulge more than the other. It is also possible for thyroid eye disease to affect just one eye. Because every case of thyroid eye disease is different, it is important to see an ophthalmologist for precise diagnosis and treatment recommendations.
Is there anything I can do on my own for thyroid eye disease?
Yes. More than one study has shown that stopping smoking can benefit patients with thyroid eye disease.
