Research
Research is critical at the Casey Eye Institute. For nearly five decades, a team of highly specialized ophthalmologists and basic scientists have been working side-by-side, focusing on treatments and causes of eye disease. By linking scientists with physicians, we are able to turn possibilities into realities.

Casey Eye Institute has two full floors dedicated to research laboratories for glaucoma, inflammatory diseases, macular degeneration, and gene therapy. One floor is at our Marquam Hill location, and the other is located in OHSU's Biomedical Research Building (BRB). Clinical trials are the last stage in bringing a new treatment into general use, allowing accelerated delivery of promising new treatments and technology. The Casey is conducting trials in diseases of the cornea and retina, glaucoma, inflammatory diseases, macular degeneration, ocular oncology, refractive surgery, and pediatric eye diseases.
